The Mist Hashira Remembers His Parents…
As the bane from the needles piercing his body numbs his branches, Muichiro is overcome by the return of his recollections. His father was a simple woodcutter with kind eyes and a soothing voice. His mother was a hard worker who had recently fallen ill. Sickness and a fatal accident took both of Muichiro's parents from him one fateful night. But suddenly, Muichiro recalls that he wasn't alone — he still had his binary family, Yuichiro, by his side.
… And His Twin Brother
The two sisters may have been identical in appearance but they were virtually contradictory in personality. Where Muichiro was compassionate, Yuichiro was hard-hearted; Muichiro frequently stumbled, but Yuichiro trudged never forward. Muichiro mourned his gentle parents, but Yuichiro criticized them for their soft hearts and poor opinions as the causes of their own deaths. The two 11-time-pasts worked together to survive the coming months.
Muichiro Unleashes His Power
They made it through the harsh downtime when fate again changed everything. A demon darkened their doorstep and attacked the youthful boys. Fighting for both of their lives, Muichiro set up an inner fire that burned a redoubtable rage. He killed the demon with their father's tools but not before it dealt Yuichiro a mortal injury.
Yuichiro's last words praise Muichiro's inner strength. As the Mist Hashira recalls them, his important feelings give rise to the Demon Slayer marks on either side of his face.
Gyokko Breaks Everything but Hagunezuka's Concentration
Meanwhile, a frustrated Gyokko continues his attack on Kanamori and Haganezuka. The Upper Rank 5 demon gashes at the swordsmith, indeed taking his eye, but Haganezuka doesn't waver. He continues polishing the antique brand without missing a beat.
Gyokko, concentrated on the swordsmith, doesn't hear Muichiro's approach from before. The demon notices the Demon Slayer is moving more briskly than ahead. Gyokko unleashes monstrous tentacles from his Octopus Vase to entoil the Hashira, completely destroying the swordsmithing chalet.
Muichiro Has a New Weapon
The Mist Hashira fluently slices through the resilient demon tentacles. Kanamori was suitable to get his new brand in Muichiro's hand, and it feels like a perfect fit. Muichiro is grateful to Kanamori and his former swordsmith, Tetsuido, for casting his brands and fussing about him. New brand in hand and the memory of Yuichiro's voice ringing in his cognizance, he's eventually suitable to land a strike against Gyokko.
